Coleman was born in Blackpool Lancashire. Coleman was head of the class of Arnold School, Blackpool and received straight A's in her A levels. In a discussion about her Emmerdale role, Coleman admitted that she regretted not having had a typical University experiences. Coleman participated in a club known as In Yer Space at her school. Steven Moffat announced at a Doctor Who press conference on 21 March that Coleman has replaced Karen Gillan as the companion of the Doctor following Arthur Darvill left the series and was to play the role of Matt Smith. Moffat chose her for the role due to her being the most efficient in her interactions with Smith and spoke more quickly than Smith. She was nominated for 2 "Daytime Emmys" in the first role as well as having the a chance explore her artistic talents. Eva is a businesswoman, and also an actor. Three times married, she has a daughter along with her husband.
