Perry is Perry is a Chicago native she was born into Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. Her first roles on television included two roles as Jackie Harris (as seen in flashback) in The ABC sitcom Roseanne as the character played by her mother. Perry did not decide to pursue acting as a career until after she had reached the age of adulthood due to her parents being concerned about the adverse consequences stress can cause. Perry shy and shy for acting in school, began to perform in theater classes at Northwestern University because she wanted to meet new people. Perry began her career with New York after graduation, performing in minor roles on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Kevin McKidd, her father Kevin McKidd performed in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prizewinning drama Anna Christie with her in the year 2015. Perry was in nine episodes of the ABC crime thriller The Family in 2016. In 2017 she had an recurring role in The ABC drama about politics Scandal starring her father. Also, she was cast on The CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory spinoff Young Sheldon as a version younger of Mary Cooper, Sheldon Cooper's mom. She got the part in an audition that was open despite being a fan of the character.
